Approximation of elastic-plastic local strains in surface-hardened notched components

چکیده
Elastic-plastic strains at points relevant for structural failures are usually approximated using formulas based on the stresses determined by elasticity theory. For this purpose, Neuber approximation is a common method to estimate local elastic-plastic in notch root, although currently only approved homogeneous components. surfacehardened notched components, these need be modified cover two potential failure points: The root as well interface between stronger surface layer and weaker core material. In following, multi-step algorithm shown that allows estimation of points, single elasticitytheoretical solution. A comparison values with those from finite element analyses (FEA) reveals results minor inaccuracies, while usability remarkable.

Elastic-plastic Deformation at Finite Strains
In some circumstances, elastic-plastic deformation occurs in which both components of strain are finite. Such situations fall outside the scope of classical plasticity theory which assumes either infinitesimal strains or plastic-rigid theory for large strains. The present theory modifies the kinematics to include finite elastic and plastic strain components. For situations requiring this genera...
متن کاملLocal Approximation of Pareto Surface
designer is solving an optimization problem, which involves different disciplines and where all design criteria have to be optimized simultaneously. Mathematically this problem can be reduced to a vector optimization problem. The solution of this problem is not unique and is represented by a Pareto surface in the space of the objective functions. Once a Pareto solution is obtained, it may be ve...
متن کاملFinite element analysis of elastic-plastic solids under Vickers indentation: surface deformation
Finite element modeling has been used to study the development of surface deformation during indentation with a Vickers indenter. A wide range of materials with different elastic modulus and yield stresses are examined. Results show that in a pyramidal indentation process, for a perfectly plastic material, sinking-in during loading can change to pile-up in unloading. This phenomenon depends on ...

In this appendix, we list the expressions that characterize the response of an elastic-perfectly plastic solid with sinusoidal roughness to indentation by a rigid flat punch. The substrate is an elastic-perfectly plastic solid with Young’s modulus E, Poisson’s ratio ν and yield stress Y σ . The surface roughness has wavelength n λ and amplitude n g . In terms of these parameters, we define a ma...
متن کاملA Sub Loading Surface Multilaminate Model for Elastic-Plastic Porous Media
A framework for development of constitutive models based on semi-micromechanical aspects of plasticity is proposed. The resulting of this model for material employed friction type failure criterion, sub-loading surface, and associated flow rule. This model is capable of predicting effects of the rotation of principal stress/strain axes and consequent plastic flow, induced anisotropy of strength...
